Hankelow Amenities Group - Annual Report - June 2014 to May 2015

Annual report from Val Morrey - Chair of the Group

12th May 2015

This time last year we were making our arrangements for the Summer Fete on June 22nd. The event was a great success and thanks to everyone's support we were able to give a wonderful donation of £1500 to Macmillan Cancer Support. The Crewe Concert Band were paid £200 and the Nantwich Freerunners £150. A donation of £50 each was given to the Scouts, Musicland and the Firefighters Charity. £30 was given to the residents of Greenbank for use of their electricity and £150 was given to Hankelow Methodist Church.

We provided refreshments at the Transport of Festival, on the village green, on July 27th.

The Autumn Supper was held at Brookfield Golf Club on October 15th. The evening was a great success with a lovely friendly atmosphere. Our retiring postman Malcolm " Chalky" White was unable to attend for his presentation, but this was organised for a later date.

About 60 people attended our Carol singing on the village green. The collection, chosen by Chalky, made £100 for the Liver Unit at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham.

On April 26th this year we organised a visit to Wollerton Hall Gardens. 35 people attended. The weather was lovely and a good afternoon was had by all.

This year's fete will be held on Sunday June 21st. The main events will be the Crewe Concert Band, Cheshire Accademy Gymnasts, The Biddulph Ukelele Band, Wybunbury School Choir, Tug of War and Sports for all ages. There will be the usual stalls and refreshments. This year we are helping to raise money for the refurbishment of the Community Hall, plus other local charities.

To help fund the fete we will be providing refreshments in the Public Hall at this year's Audlem Carnival on May 25th. We will also be taking the Football Game.

We always welcome more helpers and new ideas. We meet once a month, the date is always on the website. Our aim is to organise events right through the year bringing all ages together with the feeling of community spirit and we ask for your continued support.
